Grow Medium

After years of implementing a wide-variety of grow methodologies that have utilized both inert mediums, (rockwool, coco, clay pellets, and perlite), as well as heavily amended “living” soils. We have developed a hybrid approach that achieves the best of both worlds. We start with RHP-certified coco for our “base” up approach to building our medium. The RHP certification ensures that the coco substrate is clean, pure, and can be used without any risk of contamination from heavy metals, seeds of weeds, insects, human, or plant pathogens. Additionally, we have found coco substrates to be the optimal medium for controlling water uptake, root zone aeration, and nutrient levels.

INERT MEDIUM + LIVING AMENDMENTS

Upon initial hydration of the pots, we supplement the inert coco substrate with “living” organic amendments that include Organics Alive premium soil mix, mycorrhiza and beauveria bassina.

• Organics Alive Premium Mix is a rich soil amendment that includes Organics Alive worm castings, pure vegetable compost, fossilized kelp Kelzyme, and powdered volcanic rock mineral. These ingredients have been specifically chosen and carefully measured for the optimal balance of biological growth and supplementation of soil nutrients. https://organicsalivegarden.com/product/premium-mix/

• DYNOMYCO effectively inoculates plants with vigorous endomycorrhizal fungi.
Mycorrhizae improves plant nutrient uptake; translating to healthier, more resilient plants and higher quality and yields. https://www.dynomyco.com/

• Beauveria bassiana: An entomopathogenic fungi used to control many soft-bodied insects (cultured and grown in our in-house tissue culture lab)

HYDROPONIC FERTIGATION + FOLIAR FEED

Our organically-amended coco substrate provides a rich “living” medium for our plants to thrive. We achieve an even greater level of plant performance and nutrient delivery through fertigating a combination of mineral nutrients that include: calcium, magnesium, sugars, nitrogen, potassium, silica, and phosphorous. By varying the ratios of these minerals throughout the various stages of plant life, we can optimize a plant’s production of cannabinoids, terpenes, and overall yields.

In addition, Foliar Feeding is a well-established tool used to compliment and enrich plant nutrition. Based on a validated theory, foliar nutrients can be absorbed through the leaf stomata and, in some instances, through the cuticles. Leaf and stomata nutrient uptake is considerably faster than root uptake. It is the preferred method to quickly balance nutrient demands across various cultivars that require increased feeding to sustain vigorous and optimal growth. Our foliar feed solution is a blend of rich organic ingredients including cold pressed kelp, alfalfa, seaweed extracts, vitamin B1 and humic acid.

THE FLUSH

“Flushing” a plant is the process of irrigating plants with nutrient-free water instead of the nutrient-rich mixture it’s received most of its life. Flushing helps plants use up, burn off, and get rid of built-up minerals and nutrients.

We begin flushing our flowering plants at approximately 12 to 14 days prior to harvest by removing all nutrients and irrigating with fresh water and natural enzymes. Flushing alone won’t necessarily make your harvest taste or smell better, however, it will contribute to the overall quality of your flowers’ “smokability.”

Flush = smoother and tastier buds.
